Lecturers: Cezary Worek Ph.D., Andrzej Kułak Ph.D.
Laboratory staff: Łukasz Krzak Msc.
Aims of the course:
Presentation of problems in wireless networks for professional industrial applications, such as intelligent distributed sensor networks (smart metering). Presentation and comparison of architecture, principles of operation and capabilities of wireless sensor networks based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard (ZigBee, WirelessHART, ISA-100, 6LoWPAN). Design issues for wireless sensor networks, selection of technology and protocol, network topology and frequency band, choosing and integrating sensors etc. Applications of wireless sensor and control networks in new systems for smart grids, process automation and machinery remote control. Custom wireless network solutions to meet special requirements such as: minimal time of reaction (real-time) or long battery life.
